Yeah, this sorta sums up our week. Poor little P got RSV. :(

Last Thursday and into Friday he started a sore throat and cough, so I made a Monday appt. just in case. He is so little I didn't want to be calling early Mon begging for an appt. if he wasn't improving by then. We spent a quiet weekend with lots of cuddles, but kept getting worse.

About 4AM Monday morning this one comes in saying "my ear hurts!". Tylenol was administered and she went back to sleep. I prudently decided to keep the appt for little P and to add her to the agenda so as not to have another appt in a few more days for an ear infection. She woke up fine and said nothing was hurting, but the appt was already made and she was coming with me anyway so I didn't change it. Good thing too, since upon arrival at the Dr. I was informed that the Munchkin had a double ear infection and Strep! This news was only topped by Little P's diagnosis of RSV! Going to the hospital seemed so extreme for how he was doing, but the Dr. said that they keep getting worse until they finally get better, and one never knows how bad they will get. Still I brought him home for the night to think, rest and decide if I should take him in. The only thing the hospital can do is monitor oxygen levels and then do supportive measures if O2 Sat's drop too low. There is no medicine or other help to be had.

Well the next morning I had decided that we needed to go in and his coughing until his lips turned purple sealed the deal. His O2 sat was fine until he fell asleep and then he was borderline. Eventually they put him on a tiny puff of O2 to keep his levels up even when sleeping.

This monstrosity of a stainless steel nightmare cage out of the previous century welcomed us. Praise the Lord times have changed! I also had a bed and we only used it for a changing station.

It was even labeled! Like anyone could get confused where it went? On the other hand, maybe it could get mistaken for a psyc ward item? (Insert shiver)

Another bit of the bizarre was the prescription moisturizer. Check out the size of this thing! A pea sized amount of this on his forehead is going to last until he's about 90!

In the end, he only needed a few hours of oxygen and we went home at about 36 hours well on the way to recovery. I will always remember counting my blessings. Being called a wiggle worm and a little tiger are fabulous things on the pediatric ward. Other options are lethargic and screaming after all. :( We were welcomed home with lots of smiling faces.

The Bugs decorations actually make Little P smile and stare. Thank's big sis!

Now lots of sleep and time to finish off the last of the cough and hopefully never be sick again!
